NO-DES Technology Could Backwash GAC Filters

April 2017 NJAW again used their NO-DES truck unit to successfully backwash eight GAC filter vessels at another one of their treatment sites in New Jersey.

 

They had two issues to overcome:

​

1 – Disposing of the contaminated backwash water

​

2 – Achieving the high flows needed to backwash the GAC filters.

 

This GAC filter site is now plumbed to allow their NO-DES truck unit to come in quickly and efficiently for backwashing the facility once a year.  The huge benefit comes from not having to haul off the backwash contaminated water – After back-washing with the NO-DES truck unit, all that needs to be removed is the light-weight filter bags (no water lost)!
