Camera Inspection

Water main camera inspection – using a specialized camera inserted into a city’s water main pipes Hydrologics can visually examine their condition, identifying potential issues like cracks, corrosion, root intrusion, or pipe offsets, allowing for preventative maintenance and repairs before major leaks occur.

A flexible camera probe is inserted into an access point on the water main, typically a cleanout or inspection port, and navigated through the pipe while recording video footage.

What it detects:

  • Cracks or fissures in the pipe
  • Corrosion on the pipe walls
  • Root intrusion, where tree roots have grown into the pipe
  • Pipe misalignment or offsets
  • Significant pipe deterioration

Benefits:

  • Early detection of potential leaks, allowing for timely repairs before major damage occurs
  • Minimizing water loss and disruptions to service
  • Optimizing maintenance schedules by identifying areas requiring attention
  • Providing data to inform future infrastructure planning
  • Important considerations:
